Make Peace Before You Worship

📖 Matthew 5:23-25

“First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.”

Before we bring anything before God—our worship, our prayers, even communion—Jesus calls us to examine our hearts. Scripture reminds us that peace matters deeply to God. Reconciliation matters. Forgiveness matters.

This doesn’t mean the other person has to apologize first. Sometimes healing begins long before reconciliation ever happens. You can choose peace through prayer. You can release the offense. You can forgive, even if they never acknowledge the hurt they caused.

Why? Because unforgiveness is a weight your soul was never designed to carry. Bitterness slowly drains our joy, clouds our peace, and hardens our hearts. But Jesus offers us another way—the way of freedom. The same mercy He has poured over our lives, He asks us to extend to others.

💭 Forgiveness is painful… but so is carrying resentment.

I know what it feels like to be wounded by people. Sometimes you think you’ve healed, only for the pain to suddenly resurface. Old conversations. Old betrayals. Old disappointments.

But forgiveness is not weakness—it’s spiritual strength. It’s choosing freedom over bondage. It’s refusing to let pain keep controlling your heart.

When resentment rises up again, you can pray:

“Lord, I forgive them. I release them into Your hands in Jesus’ name. Heal my heart and bless them, because You love even the people who hurt me.”

That kind of surrender is powerful. And while forgiveness may not instantly erase the pain, it breaks the chains attached to it. Healing begins where bitterness ends.

👉 Take time to examine your heart today

Scripture tells us to examine ourselves before worship and before communion. Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart honestly.

Is there someone you need to forgive?
Is there hurt you’ve been holding onto?
Is there bitterness quietly taking root?

Don’t carry it another day. Not because they deserve it—but because you deserve freedom in Christ.

🌿 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8

You cannot cling to bitterness and fully embrace the peace and presence of God at the same time. Trade your heaviness for His healing. Trade your resentment for His joy. 🙌🏽

Prayer for Peace

“God, I invite Your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me fully and reveal anything that is not like You—hurt, anger, offense, or unforgiveness. Heal the places in me that still ache. Teach me to forgive the way You have forgiven me. Fill my heart with Your peace, freedom, and restoration. I surrender every burden to You today. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

— Psalm 139:23-24 (TPT)
